Centennial Park Golf Course Blog

Welcome to the Centennial Park Golf Course blog.  Since last year, Billy Casper Golf Management was hired by the Munster to run the golf course and clubhouse.  My name is Dan Augdahl and I was hired to be the golf course superintendent.  For the past 8 years, I was the superintendent at Lansing Country Club.
In the coming months I will be posting updates on what we are doing to make the course better and more playable.  I will take lots of pictures and explain what we are doing.  Projects that we will be working on are include restoration of target bunkers on the range, bunkers work including removal and re-contouring, staircase on #8 white tee, sort cut on fairways, and shrinking some wild areas to speed up play.

Because of a slow start to turning on the irrigation system, I hand watered the greens with our sprayer until we got the pump station working.  An electronic drive failed so we needed to replace it and have it installed.

Once operational, we started fixing problem heads.  This head was leveled to get even coverage.  We only had 3 breaks to fix.  It will take several weeks to fix every little problem.  I have made a list and will fix the most crucial problems first.

Centennial park never had collars on it's greens so we are growing them in.  We have a walking mower that will be utilized when we reach the desired height of cut.

Behind #1 green there was a bare spot that needed some attention.  Lalo, our mechanic/foreman, with the help from our crew, sodded it this spring.

Hopefully, we are done with frost delays.
